A high-performance CNC bit with a dual-flute design combining up-cut and down-cut flutes. Ideal for clean top and bottom edges on plywood, MDF, melamine, and laminated boards. Made from solid carbide for durability, it’s perfect for through-cuts in cabinet making and woodworking applications.
Shank: 6mm | Cut Length: 28mm | Cut Diameter: 6mm
Key Features:
- Dual-Flute Geometry: Lower section of the bit has an up-cut design to pull chips and fibers upward from the bottom. Upper section features a downcut design to push fibers downward from the top. The point where these meet is called the "transition zone"
- Material: Made from solid carbide for durability and longevity
- Cutting Direction: Designed for full-depth passes so that the transition zone is entirely within the material thickness.
Applications:
-
Plywood
-
MDF
-
Melamine
-
Veneered panels
-
Ideal for cabinetry, furniture making, signs, and precision panel processing
Material Suitability:
- Works best with:
- Laminated woods and plywood
- MDF and particle board
- Veneered surfaces
- Some plastics (e.g., acrylic, PVC) with appropriate feeds and speeds
- Laminated woods and plywood
Advantages:
- Clean top and bottom edges – virtually eliminates splintering
- Excellent for high-speed cutting of veneered or laminated materials
- Reduces sanding and cleanup, saving time in finishing
- Great for one-pass cutting on sheet goods
Limitations:
- Must cut deeper than the transition zone to get full compression benefit
- Not ideal for very shallow passes or pocketing.
- Slightly more expensive than standard up-cut/downcut bits
- Can generate more heat; proper chip evacuation is important
